What is cable tension clamps

A tension clamp is tension hardware used to complete the tensional connectivity of a conductor or cable, providing mechanical support for the insulator and conductor. Most tension clamps are used to connect overhead lines to optical equipment or utility poles. Different styles of tension clamps have different body materials and clamp loop sizes. Most cable clamps are made of stainless steel, some are made of plastic. They are reliable, weatherproof and durable.
Tension clamps should be used to provide support and ensure that the fiber or device stays in place and is properly attached. It is as if the fiber tends to be stronger when it shrinks, but quickly breaks apart when bent hard for work efficiency and time saving when laying cables, tension clamps are used to make the laying process more convenient increase.
When laying fiber optic cables above ground or underground, strain gauges should be used to complete the cable assembly. To ensure a clean and correct installation, there should be tension clamps at all points in the process to hold the cables together and in place. The main parameters of a tension clamp are the diameter of the cable to be clamped and the maximum tension.

What are the types of cable tension clamps?

Hanger Feeder Clamp

This hanger feeder clamp is composed of stainless steel and will last a long time.

Hanger Feeder Clamp can be used in anchoring, turning, suspension fiber optic cable routes. Used for 3-7 mm diameter round drop cable.

S-hook Tension Clamp

S-hook tension clamp can be used on buildings, poles, strand with drive hooks, pole brackets, state steel hooks and other drop wire fittings and hardware.

It is suitable for overhead short-distance drop optical cables. Used for 2 to 8 mm thickness of drop wire. And widely used in indoor installation and outdoor installation.

Plastic Wire Clamp

Plastic wire clamp is for drop fiber cable and designed to fix and keep the tensile state of fiber. Usually, the fiber laying around the electric transmission line or laying on a building whose space is less than 50 m. Plastic wire clamp is designed to use for cables with a height of 4 mm and a width of 8 mm. The clamp securely holds the flat cable.

Aluminum Tension Clamp

This kind of drop cable tension clamp is suitable for drive hook, rod mount, or other accessories. Used for 2-6 mm diameter drop cable on short spans (max 150m) at intermediate poles on straight routes and choose the type according to the diameter of cable.

Stain Clamp

In aerial outdoor FTTH construction, the strain clamp is designed to anchor steel wire diameter up to 3 mm of FRP messenger of drop cable. Stain Clamps can be used on dead-end fiber network routes.

Figure 8 Cable Tension Clamp

The figure 8 cable tension clamp is designed for fast, easy and reliable termination of ADSS optic cables in access networks spanning up to 100m. A pair of wedges automatically clamps the cable inside the cone. Used for 3-7 mm diameter fiber cable.

Dead End Guy Grip Preformed Tension Clamp

The concrete configurations: For terminal pole/tower-one to one; for strain pole/tower and splicing pole/tower-two to one.

The feature of steel helical tension clamp is that it has very high grip strength of up to 95% for the breaking load, the damage is small and it is not easy to loose.

Depends on inner rods and outer rods’ length, it is used for 7-27 mm diameter ADSS optic fiber cable.

Overhead Preformed Suspension Clamp

It is designed to connect straight or elevation angel less than 25° pole (tower) and ADSS cables. Double suspension clamp can be applied to large span length and large elevation angle of straight pole (tower).

Select the specification model for ADSS suspension clamp is corresponding to the appropriate cable diameter, load weight or span length.

J hook Suspension Clamp

Choose the type according to the diameter of ADSS cable. It is suitable for round cable.

The suspension clamp is designed to provide a suspension for Ø8 to 20mm aerial ADSS cables at intermediate poles on cable routes with angle< 20° on access networks (spans up to 100m).

S Type Drop Wire Clamp with Hook

S type drop wire clamp with hook is designed for suspension or tension round or flat FTTH drop fiber optic cable or drop cable or telephone drop wires. FTTH clamp is applied outdoor on routes with short spans up to 80m and used for less than 5mm diameter cable.

How to choose cable tension clamps?

Hanger feeder clamp, S-hook tension clamp, plastic wire clamp, aluminum tension clamp, stain clamp, S type drop wire clamp with hook are suitable for drop optic cables. Figure 8 cable tension clamp, dead end guy grip preformed tension clamp, overhead preformed suspension clamp and J hook suspension clamp are suitable for ADSS fiber cables.

If there is more than 25° corner in the connection, it is better to use Hanger feeder clamp, S-hook tension clamp, plastic wire clamp, aluminum tension clamp, stain clamps, figure 8 cable tension clamp or dead end guy grip preformed tension clamp. And if there is less than 25° corner or no corner in the connection, it is better to use overhead preformed suspension clamp, J hook suspension clamp or S type drop wire clamp with hook.

Testimonials

Lomoveishiy – Finland

I needed those to connect my PC on the third floor to have internet access in that room, and ISP installed their modem on the first floor only. After dropping fiber patch cables, plugged in all cables into these media converters at both sides, and link came up instantly. Was much easier than I thought!

Raymond – USA

Great experience – units worked straight out of the box – just needed plug in cables and we were done. I also like the possibility to enable jumbo frames, while we do not have a need for this feature at the current moment it’s great to have this option.
